Encouraging Outstanding Opera Talent

Azuriales Opera is changing to focus on finding truly outstanding young artists and making a significant difference to their early operatic careers. We have an excellent track record of identifying and encouraging talented young singers through our existing Masterclass and Competition programme.

We will continue:

our rigorous selection auditions;
our summer masterclass and singing competition in the South of France;
our annual London showcase concert;
a small number of opera performances in the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild (Cap Ferrat, France) to support this initiative.

In addition we aim to

Arrange at least one other week long programme for young artists;
Provide young artists with performance opportunities;
Award scholarships and bursaries to help young artists with specific projects which will make a significant difference to their careers;
Encourage in the creation of new work for the voice.

To support this we are well on the way to raising £75,000, which will have a significant impact on our aims.

It is a key objective that our Company of Angels (our donors) are able to engage with our Young Artists as much as possible.

Werther Wins Top Prize

Jung Soo Yun, the winner of the 2010 Ozone Les Azuriales Prize and who played the title role in Werther this year, has just won the very prestigious Montserrat Caballe Prize. He says of Azuriales Opera: “It was a joy to be with other singers in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Much of my success is thanks to Les Azuriales Opera, giving me connections and opportunities”. Jung Soo epitomizes want we want to achieve. We believe that he is a great singer and has the potential to have a stellar career.
