Choral Evensong in Beaulieu

17:00 on Saturday, 3rd September 2022

St Michael's Church, Beaulieu-sur-Mer

This is a special opportunity (even for non-religious people) to attend a choral evensong - one of the most beautiful Anglican services - to be held in the wonderful belle époque Anglican church in Beaulieu

Our service will be taken by the Chaplain, Fr. Anthony Ingham, from the traditional 1662 Book of Common Prayer, with its magnificent language.

The singing will be led by four Voces8 Scholars who have been trained by Voces8 which is one of the world's leading a cappella groups renowned for their precise style.

The organ will be played by Richard Salter QC, a leading English lawyer and distinguished organist. He is also a Trustee and chair of the Advisory Board of Les Azuriales Opera.

The music will include choral and organ works by Bach, Buxtehude, Byrd, Parry Purcell, Sumsion, Tallis and Tchaikovsky.

After the service drinks and canapés will be served in the church garden. In addition you are welcome to join us for a two course supper at the Gran Caffe in Beaulieu's main square. Both will provide an opportunity to meet Richard and the singers.

Attendance is free but there will be a collection in aid of the Church during the service. The supper will be modestly priced - details will be sent to those interested.

We ask you to confirm your attendance at evensong as well as interest in supper by clicking the button on the right and completing a simple form.
